Global trade experience in international trade working as import-export and distribution specialist, dealing with freight and logistics companies, and participating in various international shows and contract negotiations with over 25 foreign companies.
Member of Content Advisory Panel at Forum of International Trade Training
As an automobile manufacturing engineer, I focused my career in international trade working as import-export and distribution specialist of the Romanian cars and parts and taking part in various international trades shows and contract negotiations (including Barter contracts) with over 25 foreign companies from East Europe.
I have extended my experience in International Trade and Inventory Management working for over 12 years for CPA Canada dealing with different products (educational materials, computers), new shipping/ freight forwarding companies from N. America and new markets like U.S., Hong Kong, China, Caribbean, etc.
After fifteen years of performing as an international trade professional in many markets from Europe, Asia and N. America, in 2009 I achieved the Certified International Trade Professional – CITP designation- the highest level of professional accreditation available to international business and trade professionals in Canada, which promotes excellence in the field of international trade training and education worldwide.
Since 2012, I am bringing my contribution to Forum of International Trade Training (FITT) of Canada in many projects they needed, as Item Writer or as member of Content Advisory Panel which has been assembled to review and make recommendations for publishing the 7 Edition of FITT Skills Curriculum Text Books.
Competency Standards for International Trade Practitioners by FITT, Canada
Project Description:
Funded by the Government of Canada, the project is being executed by emerit.ca under the guidance of Forum of International Trade Training of Canada.
Being part of the focus group selected by FITT based on our practical experience and a strong knowledge in international business, my role was to reviewing drafted competency standards for the different functional areas related to International Trade and sharing my ideas and expertise with other professionals to help ensure the competencies are relevant and accurate with the field.
The national competency standards will become a benchmark for companies of any size, type, industry, or location who either have deep international presence or plan to start global operations. The document will be used by hundreds of stakeholders – individuals, businesses, institutions, credentialing bodies, governments and others to manage HR activities such as writing job descriptions or training plans; by curriculum designers to build courses or assessment tools; and by individuals to chart career paths.
Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) Examination Sets and Preparation Guide
The Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) worked with Assessment Strategies Inc. (ASI) and nearly 50 Certified International Trade Professionals (CITPs) for more than six months to create a new Professional Examination.
While the Committee was tasked with the final review and the final stamp of approval for the new Professional Exam, their first job was to create the parameters on which the exam was based determining the types of information that should be included on the exam and the number of questions that should be included in relation to each topic.
Once the parameters were set, another volunteer group of CITPs was divided into four question writing sessions. All of the CITPs involved in the sessions were given training on how to write psychometrically-sound exam questions. This involved learning how to write questions based on the revised CITP competency profile that hone in on specific topics related to global trade.
Each Professional Exam question writer chose a competency on which to write their questions based on their own specific skills and experience. Each question was then reviewed by ASI to ensure the psychometric rules were followed, and then the question was presented to the entire group for review.
The exam was then presented to the Committee for final review. The Committee was able to approve certain questions and distill and clarify others even further to ensure they were well-worded and that there was only one correct and determinable answer.
FITT has now launched its new psychometrically-sound Professional Exam as a pilot, and is looking forward to receiving comments and feedback from individuals who take the exam on their path to global trade certification over the next year.
